Douglas Grant – Unsure circumstances of his family’s death/murder (ink work) 2012

Happy with the outcome with the final result. This would have to be one of the hardest images I've ever had to draw, not the detail, not the colouring, but the theme behind the image. This was a moment in the life of Douglas Grant where death was at his door, his parents. Not to old age; but maybe a tribal dispute, or a matter of where a white/black state trooper killed his family by bashing them against a tree. The tribal dispute I did very darkish, so as NOT to identify a specific tribe. The other half with the image of Death was to not show either a trooper or what colour. So I decided to go with a concept of Death trying to take him, but a hope of light through Robert Grant (The man who adopted him) to stop him being smashed against the tree of death. Very touchy one to draw indeed, & don't want to draw true moments of death involving indigenous cultures.
